What is Mental Health?

Mental Health – in German, mental or psychological health – describes the inner state of a person in which thoughts, feelings, and behavior are in balance. Mental Health encompasses how we think, feel, and act, how well we can cope with stress, and how stable we remain in everyday life, in relationships, and in work.

Good mental health does not mean being always happy or relaxed. It rather means being able to meet challenges, perceive our needs, set boundaries, and regulate ourselves. Mental health enables clarity, inner strength, and the ability to make decisions consciously.

Stable mental health includes, among other things:

• emotional balance, stress resistance and healthy stress management
• Self-awareness and mindfulness
• social connection and good relationships
• mental resilience (resilience)
• a healthy way of dealing with thoughts and feelings

→ Mental health is therefore a key component for well-being, quality of life, and personal development – in everyday life, at work, and in relationships.

What does systematic counseling mean?

Systemic counseling is a counseling approach that aims to support people in their individual situation, taking into account their social, professional, and family contexts. It is based on the principles of systemic theory, which assumes that people are part of a larger system, such as family, work environment, or society, and that changes in one part of the system have an impact on other parts.

Systemic questions are designed to influence the way we think about problems, challenges, and relationships within a system. They can help us gain new perspectives and insights and help us view the situation from a broader perspective.

What exactly is the process of our mental retreat at moor&mehr?

Our Mental Retreat includes professional psychosocial counseling that addresses the psychological, social, and emotional aspects of life. Through targeted methods and reflection, new perspectives can be developed and internal resources activated. Especially in times of professional or personal challenges, at turning points in life, or when there is a desire for a new direction, we support our guests in strengthening their own ability to act. Our retreat consists of several coordinated components that complement each other.

  1. Introductory conversation:
At the beginning of the stay, we conduct a personal discussion in which we explain the procedures, applications, and counseling sessions. In addition, each participant receives a thought sheet that provides space for their own reflections and includes various exercises. These come from, for example, the biography work and help them prepare for the upcoming counseling sessions.
  2. Individual systemic counseling:
Over the course of the week, two consultations will take place, tailored individually to the questions posed by our guests. Here we work in a resource-oriented manner – we not only consider the existing problem, but also look at what positive aspects exist and what insights have been gained from challenging times.

Through systemic questions, targeted reflection processes are initiated. The participants have a discussion per session. 1.5 hours each time Time to delve deeply into their issues. In doing so, we help them organize their thoughts, analyze challenges, bring structure to their concerns, and develop solutions strategies.
  3. Additional applications:
In addition to the conversations, targeted relaxation methods and applications support both the mind and the body. The combination of systemic counseling and regenerative treatments promotes lasting change.

Questions and answers

Who is the Mental Balance Retreat suitable for?

Our offer is aimed at anyone who wants to prevent burnout, reorient themselves, manage life transitions, or reflect on past experiences. We offer a protected space for personal development and self-reflection – for a healthy balance of body and mind.

Is systemic counseling a form of psychotherapy?

No. Systemic counseling is a resource-oriented coaching and counseling offering that helps you reflect on your situation and develop new ways of acting. It does not replace psychotherapy or medical treatment. If you are diagnosed with a mental illness, please discuss participation in advance with your doctor, psychiatrist, therapist, or other mental health professional.

Who is the retreat not suitable for?

In acute mental crises, suicidal thoughts or severe depression, a retreat is not the right place. Please seek professional help, for example at your family doctor’s practice, via the medical emergency service 116 117 or around the clock via the telephone chaplaincy at 0800 111 0 111 (free of charge). In an emergency, dial 112.

Does a Mental Health Retreat help with burnout?

As a preventive measure, taking a break with systemic counseling can be beneficial: you gain distance, organize your thoughts, recognize your own limits, and develop new strategies for everyday life.

What is the difference between systemic counseling, coaching, and supervision?

The transitions are fluid. Systemic counseling is the methodological approach that considers you in your context. Coaching specifically supports professional or personal development goals. Supervision primarily focuses on the professional role and how to act in everyday work. Our consultant is a certified systemic counselor and supervisor (DGSv). In our conversation, we determine what best suits your needs.

Can I also book the consultation without the program?

No. All components are specifically tailored to the Mental Balance Retreat program in the form of a whole week.
