Overview
What is Moor?
Our healing mud is basically an organic mixture of natural ingredients such as plants, mountain pine needles, roots and water. It comes from our own „moor pits“ and is then 100% re-naturalized after use. Pure natural power. Enriched with numerous valuable minerals, trace elements and vital substances that are absorbed through the skin during the moor bath, such as:
- Magnesium
The mineral substance contained in the moor has a spasm-relieving effect in the body, relaxing it and helping to reduce stress. - Copper
The trace element has an anti-inflammatory effect and can help alleviate rheumatic diseases. To this end
It supports the absorption of iron and has a positive effect on your immune system. - Calcium
A particularly valuable mineral substance that is important for the health of joints and bones. Therefore, moor baths are also
especially suitable for osteoporosis patients. - Silica
The silica contained in the moor stimulates blood circulation and skin metabolism. This can improve your skin appearance and smooth out wrinkles.
and even reduce cellulite. - Iron
Iron supports a lot of bodily functions. Among other things, the body needs it to produce the red blood pigment
To produce hemoglobin. This is responsible for oxygen transport in the blood. - Humic acid
The humic acid contained in the moor bath binds excess stress hormones. It not only has a relaxing effect.
but also anti-inflammatory and anti-infective. Furthermore, it increases the production of antibodies, acts antiviral and antibacterial. For a strong immune system

How does a mud bath work?
Experience the pure power of nature in a truly unique bathing experience. In the traditional wooden tub. Relaxation for body and soul. Our bathing expert Mira will introduce you in advance and then gently immerse you in our approximately 42° warm black wool.
- Your body increases its body temperature during a mud bath by one to two degrees. An artificial fever.
- You are put into a state of floating and relaxation, and the muscles immediately relax – the joints are thus relieved by up to 90%. You feel light as a feather. Simply switch off and enjoy. Even blood-vessel-weakening body regions such as cartilage are sustainably nourished during the moor bath.
- And now the real „work“ begins: a profound metabolic process begins. The valuable ingredients are absorbed through the skin. And you feel warm and cared for while doing so. Our bath lady takes good care of you.
- The intensive and gentle deep heating stimulates your metabolism. Detox for your „energy and aging organs“. Because you are thoroughly cleansed. The skin cell metabolism and the hormone glands also experience a boost. The immune system benefits from a lasting strengthening.
- Another plus: Did you know that the moor naturally regulates blood pressure? It’s a real treat all around. A complete rejuvenation treatment from head to toe.
- After the mud bath, you will be wrapped in a bathrobe and warm blankets in our relaxation room and allowed to rest a little more and let the mud work its magic. Afterwards, you can let yourself be pampered with one of our soothing massage treatments and enjoy our organic breakfast. A perfect start to your health holiday.

Why can moor be a natural longevity booster?
- Moor has anti-inflammatory effects – and thus inhibits „inflammaging“
A core mechanism of aging is so-called inflammation: chronic and low-grade inflammation that continuously strains the body. Moor contains humic acids and fulvic acids that: reduce inflammation processes, neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress. Ultimately, these substances act as a natural „shield“ for tissues and organs.
➜ Why this is important for Longevity?
Less inflammation means: ✔ slower cell aging ✔ better regeneration ✔ lower risk of age-related complaints - Moor improves microcirculation and activates repair processes
The heat storage capacity of Moor is exceptional: It provides heat slowly but deeply into the body. This produces effects that go beyond traditional heat applications. The deep penetration of heat leads to improved microcirculation, increased oxygen transport, increased nutrient supply, and an activation of metabolic processes. Basically, in essence, this promotes repair and regeneration mechanisms for improved resilience.
➜ Why this is important for Longevity?
A well-circulated body has better conditions for cell repair and renewal – a crucial point for healthy aging. - Moor reduces stress and harmonizes the nervous system
Moist wraps or moor packs have a strong effect on the autonomic nervous system. They regulate parasympathetic activity („rest and digest“) and lead to lower cortisol levels and better sleep quality. Chronic stress is one of the biggest accelerators of biological aging.
➜ Why this is important for Longevity?
Moor helps the body enter a regenerative state – the foundation of all long-term health processes. - Moisturizer strengthens the skin barrier – and the skin is an anti-aging organ
The skin is our largest organ and crucial for immune function, detox processes, and signs of aging. The humic acids contained in the moor have antioxidant and antimicrobial effects, support the repair of the skin barrier, and help the skin protect itself from environmental influences.
➜ Why this is important for Longevity?
Healthy skin is a marker of systemic health – and a protective shield against environmental stress. - Moor triggers natural hormone responses
Many longevity strategies are based on hormesis – gentle stressors that make the body stronger. Moor also triggers such a positive, regulating stimulus:
➜ Why this is important for Longevity?
Hormetic stimuli promote adaptation – a key factor for metabolic health and longevity.
Are there studies on the effectiveness of the mountain pine moss? Yes.
An experimental study by Beer, Lukanov and Sagorchev (2004–2005) investigated the moor Bad Kohlgrub used in the study and its effects. The results show that the studied moor contains biologically active substances that can be absorbed through the skin. Together with the natural heat development of the moor, this results in a targeted therapeutic effect.
The studies thus provide a scientific explanation for the long-observed positive effects of seaweed applications – particularly in the case of rheumatic conditions, joint and back pain, and to support regeneration and well-being.
What should I be aware of on days with mud baths?
Our thick-bodied Alpine High Moor is one of the most intense and deeply effective natural remedies ever. It delivers its effects noticeably more intensely – for real deep-level regeneration. To ensure a gentle effect on the heart and circulatory system and thus to prevent valuable active ingredients from being washed out again, there are a few things to keep in mind on the so-called Moorbath days (always Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays):
– sufficient rest
– no sporting activities afterwards
– no sauna use and no swimming pool
– light walks are allowed
– pay attention to adequate fluid intake
Where does the mud for mud baths and mud wraps come from? And what happens to it afterwards?
As a biohotel, we naturally pay great attention to how we handle resources and our environment. The mud for the mud baths and mud wraps has always come from our family-owned mud pits and is carefully extracted there and then renatured accordingly after use.
The moor can then rest for 8-10 years and replenish itself with fresh nutrients. In this way, we maintain the green cycle and have been using this precious natural remedy in the form of a circular economy for over 60 years.

What is the difference between Moor and Fango?
The major difference lies primarily in consistency and ingredients.
The Bergkiefern Moor was formed about 10,000 years ago. It consists of thousands of years old, decomposed plant matter and water. It is an organic natural substance containing humic acids that is used as a full-body bath and pack and is characterized by its exceptional heat-storage capacity. During a moor bath, the heated natural moor envelops the body and slowly and evenly releases its heat.
Fango, on the other hand, consists predominantly of mineral rock material, often of volcanic origin, which is finely processed and often combined with water to form a mass for thermal packs.
