An organic hotel is a hotel that provides its guests with mostly or entirely organic food and operates in an ecologically sustainable way. The term is not legally protected. An organic hotel is therefore reliable primarily when it is certified and regularly inspected by an independent organic control body.

BIO HOTELS is particularly clear in this regard, as the brand has been protected as a guarantee brand since 2023 and requires its members to adhere to 100% % certified organic quality in the kitchen, exclusively using organic electricity and certified natural cosmetics. In general, a credible organic hotel clearly mentions the organic content in food and beverages, relies on certified natural cosmetics, and provides transparent information about organic electricity and resource conservation.

It is also crucial that the criteria are regularly checked by independent bodies and are not based solely on self-declarations. Vague formulations such as „natural” or „environmentally friendly” without supporting evidence are a warning sign. In case of doubt, a look at the website of the seal or association provider is helpful.

Compliance with the organic standards is regularly verified by independent organic control bodies such as ABCERT.

The standards of the BIO HOTELS association include 100 % certified organic food and beverages, certified organic and natural cosmetics, and 100 percent renewable % energy.

The entire supply chain is being examined, including by matching the purchase of organic raw materials with organic sales. In a hotel, this is simply stated: Do the organic goods purchased match what is indicated as organic and served?

An organic holiday is suitable for anyone who values conscious enjoyment, nature, and sustainability and who wants to recover healthily, relaxedly, and with a good conscience during their vacation.
